Xander's Senior Pictures - Design Matters Photography

During our pre-session consult, Xander was clear—he wanted his entire senior session at Southwoods Park. It’s a place he’s known for years, and the personal connection made it the perfect spot for him. While I usually suggest mixing in additional locations for variety, he stuck to his vision—and he was absolutely right.

Southwoods has so much to offer, and Xander made the most of it. He brought a great mix of outfits, from laid-back to dressy, but what really stood out were his props: a violin, archery gear, and frisbee golf discs. I love capturing seniors in their element, and this session was full of personality and purpose. Those moments—when he was fully himself—made for some truly memorable images.

Pedestrian Bridge

Leading lines on any bridge makes it a “go-to” option. This bridge is no exception. We got some great timeless photos of Xander!

Jamie Hurd Amphitheater

The Jamie Hurd Amphitheater has been used for Valley High School music events. It was a perfect stage for Xander and his violin. A large pond and a fountain in the background makes a dramic background.

Suit + Tie

I enjoy getting formal pictures during a senior session. It’s also fun to work in artwork – the giant silver balls are a great prop!

Archery

Archery always creates dramaic photos – the secluded woods were a perfect spot.

Frisbee Golf

Southwoods Park features an 18-hole disc golf course, a spot Xander has enjoyed for years. I love getting to know each senior and capturing what makes them unique. His excitement for the game was evident in every shot we took. Loved photographing him in action!
