Vivi's Senior Session - Design Matters Photography

I sit down with seniors and parent(s) before their senior photo shoot to plan ideas. Vivi had some great ones. From graffiti walls to Waterworks Park, we picked a variety of great locations.

I also tell seniors to wear different colors and different styles of clothing. Her range of outfits was perfect, and her ability to relax and have fun made it an amazing session for all!

Graffiti Wall

I’ve been wanting to photograph on this graffiti wall (Ingersoll Ave, Des Moines) for a while, and it did not disappoint! The bold colors and textures created the perfect backdrop for Vivi’s senior photo session.

A Sidewalk..

I always start with a shot list, but we build in flexibility to stop if we see a great spot. We didn’t plan to stop here, but so glad we did. (Yes, an ordinary sidewalk CAN look amazing!)

In Studio

It’s always great to add a few studio shots into your session. In Vivi’s case we took some timeless headshots in my studio. She’s now prepared for the future!

With Cello

I love props – and Vivi’s Cello is AMAZING! The typical outfit to wear with your instrument is fancy/formal. It always looks great, but I also love to mix it up. Vivi’s casual outfit was perfect!

Waterworks Park

The range of options at Waterworks park does not disappoint. The bridge and different nature backdrops were a great balance to Vivi’s urban photos.

Waterworks Park (Golden Hour)

One of the things Vivi wanted was perfect golden hour lighting. The weather was not cooperating on the day of her session, so we went back for a mini session to get these photos – it was soo worth it!
