Style, Grace, and Capitol Views
Shanel brought confidence and elegance to every frame of her senior session. Her bold fashion choices shine. From sleek city vibes to the timeless beauty of the Capitol grounds, the fun locations reflect her style and personality.
Valley Staplin Performing Arts Center
The stage was the perfect place to start Shanel’s session. As a member of show choir, jazz choir, concert choir, and countless plays and musicals, this space has been a huge part of her high school experience. We captured Shanel in her element—center stage—surrounded by the setting where so many of her passions have come to life.
On the golf course
We stopped at the golf course to highlight another important part of Shanel’s high school experience. She’s played throughout her time at Valley High School, and earned a scholarship to continue in college. The open space gave us a clean, natural setting for a simple set of portraits that tied this chapter of her story into her senior session.
In Studio
Photos in my studio are always an option. I love when seniors choose to include them. For Shanel, we kept the setup simple and worked in her guitar to reflect her musical interests.
East Village
World Food Prize
We arrived at the World Food Prize just as golden hour hit, and the light couldn’t have been better. The seasonal flowers, combined with soft light and quiet garden spaces, gave us a classic downtown Des Moines feel. It’s one of those locations that always delivers clean, timeless images with just a hint of drama.
Sunflower Field
We shot these photos on a different day and lucked out with perfect golden light! The field was in full bloom, creating a bold, dramatic backdrop. Sunflowers are only around for a short time, but when everything lines up, they’re amazing!
