Kayli is a senior at East Union High School, and her senior pictures were designed around the sports and activities that shaped her high school experience. The goal was to create a session that felt personal to her while giving each section its own distinct style and energy.
With basketball, wrestling, softball, and track all playing a role in Kayli’s high school years, creating this composite image was the perfect way to celebrate her accomplishments.
One of my favorite parts of planning senior sessions is building different looks around each senior’s personality and interests so the final gallery feels varied, creative, and completely unique to them.
East Union Basketball Pictures
We started in the East Union gym with dramatic basketball portraits built around the court, hoop, smoke effects, and reflective floor. Photographing multiple sports in one session helped create a lot of variety throughout the final gallery while still tying everything back to Kayli’s high school experience.
Wrestling Senior Pictures
Since girls wrestling is still a newer high school sport in Iowa, this was Kayli’s first year wrestling. We photographed portraits in the gym using ropes, her singlet, and wrestling shoes as another part of her high school sports experience.
Softball and Club Softball Pictures
Softball has been one of Kayli’s favorite sports for years — and it shows. Between the number of teams she has played on and the awards she has earned, it was easy to see how much passion she has for the sport.
I LOVE props. Everything about this part of the session was photogenic — from the jerseys and medals to the childhood softball photos and field setup. Including personal details like this always helps make senior sessions feel more meaningful and unique to each person.
Track and Medal Portraits
We photographed track and field portraits that represented another side of Kayli’s high school experience. What a collection of medals —seeing everything laid out together was pretty impressive!
Nature and Outdoor Senior Pictures
We planned the outdoor portion of the session around golden hour, and the weather ended up giving us some amazing light to work with.
Kayli’s truck was such a fun addition to this part of the session, and shoutout to her dad for getting it parked in exactly the right spot.
Bringing It All Together
One of the reasons I love pre-consults is because I get the chance to learn what is important to each senior before the session. Kayli’s session is a great example of how sports senior pictures can be personalized around activities, accomplishments, and personality.
